CYMBROGI COMMUNITY EDUCATOR - PEMBROKESHIRE

A unique part-time opportunity to join a small and energetic education enterprise which believes that learning must be done differently…

We are looking for:
An enthusiastic and self-motivated person who enjoys working with children (aged 8-18 yrs) and adults alike, and relishes the opportunity to shape high-quality learning experiences in one of Wales’ most inspirational outdoor settings.

We are looking for someone to grow with us and help us to shape our journey. 

If you love the outdoors, are resourceful, and believe that the best kind of learning is often done outside the classroom… then this could be the perfect job for you!

Key responsibilities:

Design & curate
Design & curate learning programmes and activities on our site – including our big annual highlight – the Big Retreat Festival and Darwin’s Den!

Deliver
Deliver support and/or guide workshops for school and community learners

Site operations and support
Plan and coordinate practical site activities. This will include both programmatic aspects and operational – e.g. facilities such as the compost loo, classrooms and storage.

Local networking
Helping to maintain and grow a network of existing and potential partners, community beneficiaries and champions in support of the above activities

Grants & funding
Identify and help submit applications to support ongoing activities

About You

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent in a Science subject, Humanities, Maths or closely allied discipline. 
  • Experience of educating young people, and producing/delivering teaching materials as required 
  • A recognised teaching or training qualification   
  • Good writing skills to support grant writing applications
  • A resourceful team player, with a good work ethic, strong communication and organisational skills. 
  • Open to flexible working hours, able to manage your time across the week to meet emerging needs and a seasonal evolving delivery schedule. 
  • A proportion of your time will be working remotely however you will need to be within easy commuting distance of Cymbrogi HQ (Lawrenny, Pembs) for site access and delivery as and when needed. 
  • A current driving license and DBS approved


Desirable:
First-aid trained; experience in grant writing; experience of developing or managing others (e.g. volunteers), social media literate, ability to speak Welsh.

Working hours/days:
Initially 1/1.5 days per week, which we hope will increase over time as we grow our income and funding successes.

Negotiable

First round interviews will be held online and second round interviews held onsite at Cymbrogi HQ between mid May and mid June.
